Abstract: as part of the S/4HANA embedded analytics, a set of CDS views is delivered with S/4HANA. This blog is to show how to consume S/4HANA CDS views with Lumira 2.0 Discovery. The CDS view “C_SALESANALYTICSQRY_CDS” (SD KPIs Query) is used as an example.

Software used:

1. SAP S/4HANA 1610 FP02 on-premise Edition.

2. SAP BusinessObjects Lumira 2.0 Discovery (SP02).

1. S/4HANA CDS View

First, let’s take a look at the sample S/4HANA CDS view. In HANA Studio, search and find the CDS view “C_SALESANALYTICSQRY_CDS”.

Figure 1 4976495

The definition of the CDS view is shown as below.

Notice that this CDS view is a consumption VDM CDS view with the annotation @Analytics.query: true. A CDS views with this kind of annotation generates a transient query automatically with the naming convention 2C. From the definition of the CDS view, the sqlViewName is “CSDSLSANALYTICSQ”. Hence, the transient query name is “2CCSDSLSANALYTICSQ“. This will be confirmed later.

In addition, a CDS view with the annotation @Analytics.datacategory: CUBE generates a transient info provider with the same naming convention and can be consumed in the similar fashion by the Lumira 2.0 Discovery.

Now in HANA Studio, let’s run the query with the icon Icon1 6166540 and provide the values for the prompts:

As a preview, there are some Sales KPIs returning back from the S/4HANA CDS view.

At this point, we are done with the exploration of the sample S/4HANA CDS view and ready to consume the CDS view with the Lumira 2.0 Discovery.

2. Lumira 2.0 Discovery

Open the Lumira 2.0 Discovery.

We are going to use the BW Live connection here. The process is similar for the BW Import connection.

In the HANA Studio, copy the SQL view name of this CDS view “CSDSLSANALYTICSQ” .

Back to the Lumira 2.0 Discovery, paste the copied SQL view name in the Search field on the Select Data Source screen and click on the search icon. Notice the technical name of the transient query is “2CCSDSLSANALYTICSQ” as discussed earlier.

Select the SD KPIs Query and click OK.

Visualization can be created with the data from the CDS view.

As a summary, we have gone through the process of how to consume a SAP S/4HANA CDS view with the SAP BusinessObjects Lumira 2.0 Discovery in this blog.
